George Michael - Outside
We spent a while studying Geoge Michael's music video outside, unfortunately I was unable to share this video from youtube so here is the main handout we worked from:

1. Music videos demonstrate genre characteristics (eg stage performance in metal video, dance routine for a boy/girl band).
2. There's a relationship between lyrics and visuals and music and visuals (either illustrative, amplifying, contradicting).
3. The demands of the record label will include the need for lots of close ups of the artist and the artist may develop motifs which recur across their work (a visual style).
4. There's frequently reference to the notion of looking and particularly voyeuristic treatment of the female body.
5. There's often intertextual refernce.
